Edmonds Community College

For friends of the college in Lynnwood, Washington: www.edcc.edu

What if, to save money, the college stopped printing a college catalog? Would it make a big difference to you? Or not? Could you get all the information you need online? Discuss!

Here's some background:

The college has been considering ways to reduce its spending with the least impact to students and staff. One idea has been to reduce the college's printing costs. The most expensive piece the college prints is the college catalog. Published every two years, the catalog is a book that contains all the key information about the college and a description of every single class. The college could save money by publishing the catalog only online. What do you think? How do you use the catalog now? Do you use it in print? Do you use it online? What do you use it for?

The college also spends quite a bit to print the quarterly class schedule. It contains descriptions of all the classes offered in a quarter. It comes out for fall, winter, spring, summer, and early fall and is printed on newsprint. The college could save money by printing the class schedule cover in black and white, printing fewer pages, or publishing it only online. Your thoughts? How do you use the class schedule? What info do you need in print? What info could you get as easily online?

I say online all the time. printed ones become old news fast. nowadays printing so much is just wasteful.

Edmonds CC Ning respectfully requests that we present our better nature to the online community and to each other — and may, in fact, insist on it!

The best stuff is yours! Student produced creative works: songs, videos, artwork, writing and pics get priority placement on the site. You're the star power here.

On the other hand: overly promotional material, advertising content, with no connection to our college community does not go here!

Connect with the college for bachelor’s degree completion, career-training degrees and certificates, and online classes.
