Edmonds Community College

For friends of the college in Lynnwood, Washington: www.edcc.edu

Going to be a freshman this september
I am 17 from Taiwan
so i will have to first complete the high school program here
my TOEFL IBT is around 85

I was in the science gifted class in my school
however,

since this may be my only year abroad,
i want to try something else in Edmonds

such as social sciences (sociology or economics) or biology
or even something more special
(One can only take 3 courses a semester?)

how about the clubs and other extracurricular activity?
And the part-time jobs there for students?

so how what would you suggest and advice?
Thanks a lot!

Hi Addison,
Welcome! I am so glad you came here to have new both educational and cultural experiece. There are tons of ways you get involved in our college. We have nearly 50 clubs, so that you can have various experience with your interests. You can get the club information at OSL (Office of Student Life) from Fall (quarter) 09. Also there are many chances to work and volunteer on campus. For the taking classes, you can take as many classes as you can. But, I think 3 classes would be good enough to manage yourself. If you take 1 credit, it means you will have 1 hour class and need 1 or 2 study hours.

I hope it helps you to plan new college life here, at Edmonds. I wish your good luck. :)

I think you are looking at the right school. I also a 17 year old who is local. I go to Edmonds and high school at the same time.

My favorite classes were in the political science department and I am taking microeconomics this quarter so we'll see how that is. Most of my instructors were very smart and helpful.

There are tons of clubs and extracurricular activities offered at EDCC, I am not a part of any of them but clubs are very active from what I have seen.

Walking around the school you can see tons of ads for on-campus jobs and the such. I also get e-mails about jobs from EDCC.

Advice? I would say to get to know your instructor. They are very passionate about what they do and they are there to help you. Cheers!

Oh! Also, for textbooks I go to http://astore.amazon.com/edcc-20 cause they are wayyyyyyyyyy cheaper than the prices at the student bookstore.

Have fun and good luck with your year!
