Between the Lines Welcomes YOU

Edmonds Community College seeks submissions of creative writing and visual artwork for possible publication in the 2009 issue of its arts and literary journal, Between the Lines. It publishes quality short fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, and artwork from artists at the college and in the community. The submission deadline is January 30. For current guidelines, go to http://betweenthelines.edcc.edu or email btl@edcc.edu for more information.

Those interested in participating in the experience of designing, editing, and publishing a literary journal may also join the editorial staff of Between the Lines by enrolling the college’s Publications class, Humanities 235. The five-credit class will meet 12:30-1:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursdays, as well as online, January 5 through March 20. Credits earned may count toward a two-year transfer degree at the college or the class may be taken as an elective. Instructor Amanda Laughtland is a published poet with experience in editing and publishing small press books and magazines. To find out more about the class, email her at amanda.laughtland@edcc.edu.

Has anyone else noticed the writing trait being genetic? My whole family is dangerous when it comes to the written word! We can weave a web, every one of us!

The Between the Lines deadline is usually around the same time each year. If, you missed this one, you can start working on the nest one now!

Also here's an upcoming reading folks might be interested in. Amanda, will there be copies of Between the Lines at the event?

The Convergence Writers Series presents the first ever all-faculty/staff/employee poetry and prose reading 4:30-6:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26 in the College Café. Come hear your teachers, colleagues, and friends read from their poetry, fiction, and memoir.

Among those scheduled to read are the following members of the Edmonds Community College community:
Dianne Houston
Martha Silano
William Bettencourt
Sarah Zale
Sue Sutherland-Hanson
Dawn Emerick
Bee Faxon
Rob Kashey
Amanda Laughtland
Dan Hurley

I have been wanting to get my stuff into one of these things but I just can't seem to get my pics and stuff ready by the deadline!! Argh! I love this idea and I wish more people were more aware of it!

On the other hand: overly promotional material, advertising content, with no connection to our college community does not go here!
