Glad you liked the Calvino. Now, I'm reading Umberto Eco's (Hmm, another Italian writer) The Island of the Day Before and I think you'd like it too. But I don't remember having time to read any "unassigned" books, when I was earning my bachelor's!

I wonder what you would think of Italo Calvino's If on a Winter's Night a Traveler, a work of metafiction about the relationship between reader and the writer, or something by philosopher Iris Murdoch. What we consume, even with the intent of entertainment, tends to influence us, I think, so sometimes it nice to make choices in order to be inspired.
